Homework
Homework 10 Why do human beings respond emotionally to color? What are your favorite colors and what emotions do you associate with them? Why is symbolic color always culturally specific?
How can color help increase the illusion of depth?
1) The colors that are subtle and cool will tend to pop out less versus warm and bright colors.
How can designers utilize color for emphasis?
2) High levels of contrast will lead the viewer's eye towards it.
3) We can base colors off of experience. Blue skies are promising of a bright future, while dark cloudy skies are malevolent.
4) I am a fan of light blue and orange. They have a good tendency of making the impression of atmospheric conditions. I feel that orange is warming and relaxing while blue adds fascination.
5) There tends to be a meaning behind them. Red may illustrate a warlike state while a blue and yellow hints at an honorary state.
Homework 11
1. How might professional graphic designers establish project criteria differently than students?
They would often classify by how much something would cost, how much time would need to be used, and overall if it is going to look good.
2. Discuss how subject matter, topic, content and meaning are inter-related. 3. What is the purpose of a critique? 4. What's the best way to prepare for a critique? How can you contribute to a positive critique session? 5. Compare and contrast subjective and objective criticism. 6. Describe a self-assignment that you might want to do between semesters.
The subject matter will layout the work, the topic makes it debatable, content is what will be debated on, and the overall meaning is kind of what you gather from all of it.
It is to make sure that the work met the goals, to determine strengths and weaknesses, and determining future revisions.
I was taught to come with a clear mind and open personality. Then I would progress onto improving the less desirable sections.
A subjective criticism is for a personal evaluation, how the people see it. An objective criticism is based more towards meeting goals or the elements of design.
My 3D work is often critiqued by me then my peers do the same.
