Homework 2 - Unity


1. How can mistakes help you learn?
Mistakes can help us make corrections on our work.

2. Why is "design" so important to visual communication?
When an artist designs their work, they want to make their ideals clear to the viewer.

3. What is the best way to get creative compositions and ideas?
Brainstorming is a good start. Then I would deduct and take which ideas are best.

4. In your own words, define the word "design"?
Planning a vision and bringing that vision into reality.

5. Why is composition important in graphic design?
Just like composition is important to an English paper, a composed image has it's symbols unified.

6. What happens when a design is too unified?
The composition will lack variety. It makes the viewer dissatisfied.

7. What happens when a composition lacks unity?
The composition will have too much variety and it will be harder to understand.

8. How many different ways are there to create unity?
There are six methods, Grouping, Containment, Repetition, Proximity, Continuity, Closure

9 . How can one make compositions that are more memorable?
Vary the quantity of methods

10 . What does Gestalt psychology have to do with all of this?
The human mind looks at the big picture and breaks them into separate parts accordingly.
